Variation of Sediment Yield of Tropical Basin: A Case of Muda Basin, Kedah, Malaysia

Abstract

The data used in this study is based on the sediment output recorded at the hydrological stations at Jambatan Syed Omar and Jeniang in the state of Kedah from 1979-89. The study covers rainfall and other hydrological characteristics related to the sediment discharges of the Muda River and its tributaries. Sediment yield calculation was carried out using the suspended sediment discharge records. However, factors such as land use changes that have a major role in controlling the erosion and sedimentation in the basin are not considered in this paper.
