Abstract
The objective of this paper is to discuss the mortality levels within Negara Brunei Darussalam with reference to infant mortality. It also explore to what extent or how these infant mortality trends are related to socio-economic development and Primary Health Care in the country. Data used in this paper are derived from the Brunei Vital Statistics, Annual Report, health report and the annual demographic and social statistics published by the Economic Planning Unit, Negara Brunei Darussalam. Although some errors may exist from this data especially in the period of 1940s and 1950s, they are considered reliable since Brunei is a small country, the collection of vital demographic informations is not problematic.
