The Status of Feminist Theory in Malaysia

Abstract

The evaluation of feminist theory is a reflexive study of the field. The focus is less the subject matter of women and gender relations and more that of theory itself. This paper represents an attempt to assess the theoretical contribution of gender studies in Malaysia to feminist theory. It amounts, therefore, to determining the theoretical status of gender studies in Malaysia.
