Abstract

Urban land use development is a dynamic phenomenon. For this reason, gathering information on land use to study urban development is a major problem because it requires a mechanism which collects data on land use in a timely manner and at reasonable costs. In addition, information on past changes in land use patterns is also needed to monitor the development process. This study found that aerial photograph may be used to study historical development of an urban area because it is an efficient store of exact information of the earth surface. As such, the role of aerial photograph as a record and repertory of historical data is very important for Malaysia because current method of land use information management is not very efficient.
