Social Relations Of Dependence - A Reply To Kratoska And Kahn

Abstract

I am grateful for the opportunity to reply to Kratoska and Kahn's reviews of the monograph, yet my initial reaction was to decline. In the three years since I completed the work I have moved from the study of past foreign colonization to involvement in present colonial experience. Working for an Aborginal organization in the remote regions of Northwest Australia, there are constraints of time and resources (I have only the monograph itself to refer to) that, added to my change of interest, made me view the necessity of a reply to these reviews with little enthusiasm.
