Ketupat Palas Sebagai Satu Warisan Tradisi Melayu: Penilaian Melalui Pendekatan Visualisasi dalam Kalangan Pelajar Universiti Berbangsa Melayu

Abstract
Ketupat palas diisytiharkan sebagai salah satu makanan tradisi Melayu yang masih kekal hingga ke hari ini. Namun begitu, kewujudan makanan tradisi ini begitu tercabar dengan kehadiran pelbagai jenis makanan kontemporari. Kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengukur maklum balas emosi peserta berbangsa Melayu terhadap makanan tradisi Melayu (iaitu ketupat palas) dan makanan kontemporari (iaitu burger, hotdog dan piza) melalui pendekatan visualisasi. Empat keping gambar makanan (ketupas palas, burger, hotdog dan piza) dipertontonkan kepada 121 peserta berbangsa Melayu dalam kalangan pelajar di sebuah universiti tempatan. Para peserta memberi maklum balas tentang keadaan emosi mereka dengan menggunakan skala bukan verbal yang berkadar dari satu (valensi rendah) hingga sembilan (valensi tinggi). Ujian padanan-t dilakukan untuk melihat perbezaan (1) ketupat palas dengan burger; (2) ketupat palas dengan hotdog dan (3) ketupat palas dengan piza. Keputusan kajian menunjukkan bahawa skor emosi (valensi) bagi makanan kontemporari adalah lebih tinggi berbanding makanan tradisi Melayu iaitu ketupat palas. Keputusan ini menunjukkan kecenderungan peserta Melayu dalam memilih makanan kontemporari. Namun begitu, kajian ini perlu melihat faktor lain yang boleh mempengaruhi keputusan kajian seperti variasi sosio-demografi (kawasan geografi, kumpulan umur, pendidikan dan sebagainya) selain mengambil kira limitasi dalam pendekatan visualisasi.
