Perceived Student Satisfaction and Academic Performance of Pharmacy Students Under Flexible Learning in Pangasinan

Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the perceived level of satisfaction among pharmacy students under the flexible learning setup and examine its correlation with academic performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conducted among Level I to IV BS Pharmacy students enrolled in various universities across Pangasinan, the study explored satisfaction in five key areas: (1) student motivation, (2) course structure, (3) instructor knowledge, (4) technical factors and (5) environmental conditions. The study employed a quantitative descriptive correlational design. Data were collected from 575 pharmacy students using a self-developed structured survey questionnaire and underwent content validation using Aiken’s V and reliability testing using Cronbach’s α. The researchers used frequency and percentage to describe students’ personal and technical profiles. Kruskal-Wallis H and Mann-Whitney U tests were applied to examine differences in satisfaction across demographic groups. Spearman’s Rank Correlation was used to determine the relationship between perceived satisfaction and grade point average (GPA). Results indicated a high level of satisfaction across all five factors. Clear learning instructions, instructor expertise, and reliable internet access were key contributors. First-year students reported higher satisfaction than those in advanced levels, with no significant differences by age or gender. A weak positive correlation was found between satisfaction and GPA. Based on the findings, the study recommends continued integration of flexible learning, with improved internet access, faculty training and structured course delivery. Instructors should use interactive methods and timely feedback, while students are encouraged to create conducive study environments and maximise technical resources.
