Author's Guidelines
1. Manuscript Submission
Submissions of an article imply that the work has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis) and that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts should be submitted through the OJS online submission system. This will facilitate the submission and peer-review process. Authors must first register at https://ejournal.usm.my/jcimc.
All manuscripts must adhere to the stipulated format to expedite the review process and prevent undue delay in publication. The publisher reserves the right to return manuscripts that are not prepared in accordance with the submission guidelines.
2. Manuscript Preparation
i) Title Page
Submission must include a title page with:
- Full title of manuscript in English and Bahasa Melayu
- Author (s)' affiliation, email address and institutional address
- Author biodata (not more than 50 words for wach author)
- Abstract (between 250–300 words)
- A list of keywords (up to five keywords)
ii)Preparation of Text
Manuscripts must be prepared using Microsoft Word and typed using 12 pt (Times New Roman) and 1.5 spacing. Full-length article submissions should be approximately 6,000-8,000 words. The manuscript should be in British English, and the reference format adheres to the APA (American Psychological Association, 7th edition) style.
Authors are to check for the accuracy of language before submitting it to the journal. The Editorial Board will not edit submitted manuscripts for style or language.
iii) Authorship and Affiliations
Authors should confirm that all persons designated as authors qualify for authorship, and all those who qualify are listed. Please provide the affiliation of each author and complete mailing address. Please designate the corresponding author with an asterisk (*).
iv) Abstract and Keywords
The abstract should be between 250–300 words in English and Bahasa Melayu. The abstract should give a clear, concise and informative summary. Provide five specific and suitable keywords related to the manuscript in English and Bahasa Melayu.
v) Acknowledgement
Acknowledgement is meant for the author to express appreciation to people involved in the research and preparation of the manuscript. All contributors who do not meet the authorship criteria should be listed in ‘Acknowledgement’. Acknowledgement should also include the source of funding.
vi) Images, Illustrations, Tables, Photos and Other Supplementary Materials
Each author is responsible for acquiring the copyright of complimentary materials and providing a letter of permission from the appropriate party (for instance, institution, publisher, person, archives, etc.) and to attach relevant documents together with the submission of the manuscript. Submission without copyright approval will not be considered for publication. Illustrations should be submitted as separate digital files, not embedded in the text. The files should follow these guidelines:
- 300 dpi or higher in pixel size
- Sized to fit on the page with measurement of 15.2 cm (5 in) × 21.5 cm (7.5in)
- JPEG, TIFF or EPS format only
3. Copyright Policy
Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to transfer copyright. This transfer will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information. An email will be sent to the corresponding author confirming receipt of the manuscript.

4. Language Policy
Manuscripts should be clearly and concisely written in standard Bahasa Melayu or English (UK). It is the author's responsibility to ensure that the quality of the language is not compromised. Manuscripts written in Bahasa Melayu must also submit Title, Abstract, Keywords and References in English.
5. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The use of AI tools, including generative AI systems, is permitted only as a support tool in teh writing process, such as improving language clarity or grammar. Authors remain fully responsible for the content of their manuscript, including the accuracy of information, originality of ideas, and proper citation of sources. AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors. If AI tools have been used in the preparation of the manuscript, authors must declare their use in the acknowledgement section, specifying the tool and the purpose of its use (e.g., language editing or text refinement). AI-generated content must be carefully reviewed and verified by the authors to ensure academic integrity and compliance with the journal's ethical standards.
6. Ethical Statement
The Journal of Contemporary Issues in Media Communication is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. All authors submitting to the journal are expected to adhere to ethical research and publication practices.
i) Originality and Plagiarism
Submitted manuscripts must be original works and must not have been published previously or be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Proper acknowledgement and citation must be provided for all sources used. The journal reserves the right to screen submissions for plagiarism.
ii) Authorship
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All individuals who meet the authorship criteria should be listed as authors, and all authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.
iii) Research Ethics
Research involving human participants must be conducted in accordance with relevant ethical standards. Authors may be required to provide evidence of ethical approval from a recognised institutional review board or ethics committee, where applicable.
iv) Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the work reported in the manuscript. Any potential conflict of interest should be declared in the manuscript.
v) Data Integrity
Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the data presented in their manuscript. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data is strictly prohibited.
7. Publication Charges
There is no submission charges or article processing charges (APC).
