Editorial's Note

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technologies continues to transform the landscape of health professions education. From artificial intelligence and learning analytics to simulation, virtual learning environments, and digital assessment platforms, technology has become an integral component of contemporary medical education. Beyond merely facilitating learning, these innovations have the potential to reshape how healthcare professionals acquire knowledge, develop competencies, and engage in lifelong learning. As educators and researchers, we are increasingly called upon to examine not only what technologies can do, but how they can be meaningfully aligned with sound educational principles to serve learners and society.

It is therefore our great pleasure to jointly present this Special Issue of the Education in Medicine Journal (EIMJ), published in conjunction with the International Conference 2024 under the theme Technology Enhanced Medical Education. As Guest Editors, we have had the privilege of curating a collection of scholarly works that reflect current developments, innovations, and research in technology-enhanced teaching and learning across the continuum of health professions education. This special issue features eight short communication articles that together offer diverse scholarly perspectives on contemporary issues, innovations, and challenges in medical and health professions education.
