Abstract
The current issue of KEMANUSIAAN the Asian Journal of Humanities comprises six articles on issues concerning linguistics, translation, Islamic culture and geography. The first article is an interesting discussion on the construction of interpersonal meaning in science classrooms. Based on a study carried out in Indonesia, the author discusses the issue of the integration of semiotic modes, namely language, space and gaze that are used by the teacher and students in the science classroom and the power relations manifested. The different semiotic resources used by the teacher and students in the study reflect a dynamic classroom situation, one where the teacher-student relationship is built on rapport and mutual respect
