Mission Statement

APJEE is committed to publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarship that addresses critical, emerging, and transformative issues in education. We aim to foster academic work that is not only theoretically grounded and methodologically rigorous, but also applicable, impactful, and contextually relevant to educational settings in the Asia Pacific region.

We provide a dynamic platform for advancing educational thought and practice by:

  • Encouraging global participation from scholars whose work offers meaningful benefits to the region.
  • Supporting cross-continental academic collaboration, particularly between early-career and established researchers.
  • Cultivating inclusive, reflexive, and solution-oriented scholarship through themed special issues curated by invited Guest Editors.

Our mission is to contribute to the advancement of education through research that engages deeply with real-world challenges, reflects diverse perspectives, and leads to constructive, implementable change.

For authors, this thematic direction offers distinct advantages. By contributing to issues centered on current and trending topics in education, researchers benefit from enhanced visibility and relevance within their scholarly communities. The focused nature of each issue increases the potential for citability, as readers often seek comprehensive insights on specific themes. Furthermore, publishing in a curated thematic issue fosters greater peer recognition, as contributions are positioned alongside other high-quality works that collectively advance discourse in the field.

Aims and Scope

APJEE is an international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes thematic issues only, curated by invited Guest Editors. This exclusive focus on themed issues allows the journal to maintain a clear and timely direction for each publication, fostering deeper scholarly engagement and generating greater impact within and beyond the region.

APJEE provides a focused platform for exploring critical, emerging, and transformative issues across all levels of education—from early childhood to higher education—and across diverse disciplinary domains, including but not limited to language and literacy, STEM, social sciences, arts, TVET, psychology and counselling, educational leadership, and technology-enhanced learning. We particularly welcome research that is timely, context-sensitive, theoretically sound, and responsive to the needs and possibilities of educational policies and practices in the Asia Pacific region.

The core aims of APJEE are to:

· Facilitate thematically coherent academic dialogue on pressing educational topics

· Advance impactful research, ideas, and practices that are grounded in strong theoretical frameworks and relevant to regional and global educational contexts

To support these aims, only manuscripts submitted in response to an officially announced themed issue call will be considered. Unsolicited or general submissions outside of these calls will not be accepted. Authors are therefore encouraged to align their work with the scope, objectives, and timeline of active calls for papers.

All submissions must demonstrate:

  • Clear alignment with the announced theme of the issue
  • Academic rigour and conceptual clarity
  • Engagement with contemporary educational debates
  • Relevance, applicability, or benefit to educational contexts in the Asia Pacific region

This thematic publishing model also creates opportunities for Guest Editors to take an active role in shaping the journal’s intellectual direction. By proposing innovative and forward-looking themes grounded in real-world needs or underexplored areas, Guest Editors become catalysts for scholarly exchange and transformation within education communities across the region.
